What are the typical Architectural Drawings required for Building Permits? It depends on the Scope of Work and the Project Type. Here is the typical list:

Why do small projects have to have so many drawings? What do they accomplish?
The
local planning and building departments require it, to document that the project complies with all local and state codes.
Since the adoption of the new Building Code, January '08, all Cities and Counties have the same minimum drawing requirements.
Paradigm Design will review your projects' drawing and specification needs in detail with you.
Some of the drawings listed above, I've never heard of. For example what's Title-24?
Title 24, the portion of the California Energy Code that applies to residential and commercial buildings. For
those who want to "go green", this is the State's energy conservation portion of that process. http://www.energy.ca.gov/title24/
Can I do some of the drawings myself?
Paradigm
Design is unique in their services, in that they can provide DIY Coordination Services that can include the qualified
owner/client doing some of the drawings or measuring for small or simple projects themselves.
What's a Builder's Set of plans vs. a Bid Set of plans?
A Builder's Set
has the minimum information required to pull a Building Permit and does not include any information about the aesthetic qualities
of the building finish materials or personal preferences.
Bid Documents provide specifications on aesthetic preferences,
brands, finishes, fixtures and hardware. The Finish Schedules and Specifications found in "Bid Docs" are required to
get "apples to apples" bids.
How much do drawings cost?
It depends, once again, on the Scope of Work.
It is considerably less than a realtor charges for their services. Give us a call and we'll give you a quote. 714-381-3459
What are other costs associated with adding on or tenant improvements?
Typcially
there is Structural Engineering & Title 24 Energy Calcs. Depending on the job site and existing conditions there
could be tests and reviews required by the local & state authorities. Give us a call and we'll talk about your site.
